“One’s art goes as far and as deep as one’s love goes.”

ANDREW WYETH

As I sit here wondering how to start this post I am reminded of this quote by an artist I revere as one of the best. I guess it all just comes down to what Andrew Wyeth sees as the catalyst… love… the most selfless verb in existence. I think it is because it relates to another of Andrew Wyeth’s quotes… “To have all your life’s work and to have them along the wall, it’s like walking in with no clothes on. It’s terrible.” Why is it terrible? I think it is because it is more than ink, paint, canvas or paper on the wall. It is your soul… your love. I often ponder of what it really is that exist on the wall. I believe presentation is everything… if not, I wouldn’t rely on part of my soul to Finao and their wonderful competition prints. But what is it that goes beyond the physical? To this day I am beguiled by the spirit of an image and what it carries in the realm of emotion, imagination and our being.

Thank you to my Creator for filling my mind with dreams and ideas! Without His vision I see nothing. All 4 of these images are of people I have read about all my life… Boaz, Ruth, Mary and the 4th representing mankind.

Thank you to my wife and boys for being so supportive in all I do.

Thank You Finao and Hahnemuhle!!

I have and always will enter print competition with physical prints… to see and feel the way the light casts across the paper interacting with the image and the texture of Hahnemuhle‘s Torchon Paper. Finao‘s XHibit Prints are exquisitely printed and their mat presentation the best finishing touch. Thank you Christine, Harold and Carol!

Official Press Release

McKinney, Texas – Paul Ernest of Paul Ernest Photography in McKinney, Texas was named a Diamond Medalist during Professional Photographers of America’s 2015 International Photographic Competition. Ernest’s work will be on display at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 10-12, 2016. This International Photographic Exhibit is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers and several photographic associations

A panel of 43 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,200 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, just over 2,100 images were selected for the General Collection and 1,085 (roughly 21 percent) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated “Loan Collection” book by Marathon Press.

The level of the award is determined by how many of those four images receive the highest possible honor: acceptance into the PPA Loan Collection, which is displayed at photographic exhibitions, conventions and other photography events. Ernest was named a Diamond Medalist, meaning that all four of his merited images entered the PPA Loan Collection. In 2015, he was one of only 35 Diamond Photographers of the Year.
